So this last Monday was one I’ll never forget. The California coast was going off! All up and down the coast we had swell from the south, the north, off shore winds, and perfect light with a rain storm that passed through on sunday night, it was the perfect day to capture a good shot. Myself, Ryan Franz, and Matt Johnson drove up to Santa Barbara county. We first arrived at 9:00 am and checked out Sand Spit. It was firing, I took this shot and had my first submission to surfline and made it in the article!

After our quick stop at Sand Spit, we continued onto our main destination, El Capitan. We arrived with only about 10-15 guys out from the morning, getting ready to catch a last one in. Ryan and Matt were running circles catching the best waves they’ve rode in months. They surfed their brains out for a good 3 hours on empty stomachs.
After El Cap we drove to a secret spot to checkout the waves.. Location is disclosed out of respect to the locals. We didnt get to surf it, even though there were only 3 guys out but it was still memorizing to watch every wave barrel perfectly all the way down the line..
Our last stop was Rincon. I’ve never been to Rincon before, but I could tell she was firing larger then usual with 10 ft faces on some sets, and most waves being unriden…
Checkout the best wave of the afternoon at Rincon, caught a last glimpse of it, link below..
