So this last Monday was one I’ll never forget. The California coast was going off! All up and down the coast we had swell from the south, the north, off shore winds, and perfect light with a rain storm that passed through on sunday night, it was the perfect day to capture a good shot. Myself, Ryan Franz, and Matt Johnson drove up to Santa Barbara county. We first arrived at 9:00 am and checked out Sand Spit. It was firing, I took this shot and had my first submission to surfline and made it in the article!

After our quick stop at Sand Spit, we continued onto our main destination, El Capitan. We arrived with only about 10-15 guys out from the morning, getting ready to catch a last one in. Ryan and Matt were running circles catching the best waves they’ve rode in months. They surfed their brains out for a good 3 hours on empty stomachs.

After El Cap we drove to a secret spot to checkout the waves.. Location is disclosed out of respect to the locals. We didnt get to surf it, even though there were only 3 guys out but it was still memorizing to watch every wave barrel perfectly all the way down the line..

Our last stop was Rincon. I’ve never been to Rincon before, but I could tell she was firing larger then usual with 10 ft faces on some sets, and most waves being unriden…

Today Greg Cruse, Ian Cairns, Jack McDaniel, and myself went to the GoPro offices in Encinitas to meet with Adam Instone to discuss the new sponsorship between them and Surfing America. We received some in depth training on operating, and using the cameras, while also getting a preview of up coming products. Surfing America will use the new Hero 2 cameras to gather up great surf footage, and lifestyle for GoPro to use as promoting tools for both organizations.
Go Pro has some amazing concepts that are going to blow everyone away!

The Pacsun USA Surf team will be heading to Panama April 11th for the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship.  The largest junior surf competition in the world where nearly 300 of the world’s best juniors from over 35 countries will come together and compete in surfing. While down there we will be using multiple new Go Pro hero 2 cameras to acquire footage and edits for GoPro to use. Were looking at getting surf footage rather then just barrels, but get different angles on and off the board as well. Stick around for more news regarding the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Panama.

PacSun USA Surf Team began their intense training at Huntington Beach on Wednesday.

With 6-7ft+ overhead waves, strong currents, and unpredictable winds made for a good training session.

Jim Hogan came out from Costa Rica to work with the kids on battling tactics.
